Contest Entry- Ice And Fire by Lilith-the-5th Contest Entry- Ice And Fire by Lilith-the-5th
My contest entry for *spadiekitchenqueen's contest :aww:
I can tell it took me more than predicted, but I admit that extending the deadline made me return on various details and change/fix them...for example, wonder about how many times I re-did the hair and the frame of the painting?:giggle: Now I'm finally satisfied of the work and entering the contest! Cross your fingers for me!

The beautiful, fascinating queen Enassan and Kiddo (Aelys), *spadiekitchenqueen's characters, in a sort of intimate scene.
Since when I saw the references- no, even earlier, when seeing the beautiful portrait of =SYoshiko of Enassan, I've been intrigued by her and ahhh, I hope I made her justice:blush: Reading of her relationship with Aelys, I decided I'd draw them- and in particular, I tried portraying this scene described below:

"Enassan was now near the table, leafing through a book she had picked there. With a small nod he exited the room, leaving the queen and the soldier together.

Only once she was assured they were alone did Enassan come closer to the narrow bed, looking down at the sleeping young woman with an indecipherable expression on her face. With the same brisk and efficient moves she had earlier she moped Kiddo's brow with the cloth, now redolent of linden and lavender, the tip of one long, slender finger briefly following the line of a cheek. It was the first time she was seeing the girl in any other circumstances than her duties to the Guard or her son and lying as she was Kiddo looked frail, fragile, far from the usual though and stern persona she showed to the world.

Deep down the pale gold of Enassan's eyes, something shone briefly, something she walled immediately when she felt it bud in her chest.

Alone in the small room, Enassan settled to wait."

I imagined the bg like this and...et voila
The title of the entry comes from various details- the fact Enassan is known as a cold woman, and the fact that Aelys, the name Kiddo was given by her Prince and lover Aeran, means "the flame blade of Aeran...then again, it talks about the queen's feelings towards Kiddo, the sparkle felt when looking at her, a sparkle or admiration or affection- a warm, small fire in the cold queen's heart.

Thank you very much for viewing and looking, and I hope you like it!:aww:

I like your perception of the queen here, her gold eyes stick out as part of her character, and you can see her personality in her body language

Thank you! :D I'm glad you like the queen's body language. I've been thinking at her posture a lot, hopefully it tells something about her! :D

First of all, good luck in the contest! I'm sure the kitchen queen really likes your entry!

Secondly, there are a lot of things in this piece that I love. The first thing that caught my attention was the lighting here. The glow from the fire looks realistic and not too bright. It matches with the color palette of this piece (red painting, cream walls, warm color scheme on Enassan) as well. The second thing I really like here is the facial expressions you captured on each character. Enassen looks a bit aloof, yet worried for Kiddo. Kiddo, meanwhile, looks peaceful in her slumber. She makes me think of Sleeping Beauty here, actually. xD

Anyway, once again, I wish you luck! Impressive work, Laura. <3

Thank you very much Ashley!
I'm really glad you like the lightning and the expression here. Overall, I'm always quite worried making this kind of lightnings, as they may look good in my screen settings, but I wonder about the other people's ones...the fact you told me it's fine encouraged me :D
Thank you for your cheers and compliments, hope I'll do well in the contest!

This is an interesting piece consisting of many details, warm atmosphere and something mysterious in it.
I'm sure Kiddo's hair was quite a job to draw!
I think you represented the quoted text well. :)
